A meaningful day in Pukenui celebrating the people, partnerships and community behind the Pukenui Solar Farm.

On 9 October, we marked the Switch On of the Pukenui Solar Farm with the local community at Pukenui School, celebrating the completion of construction and a proud milestone for renewable energy in Northland.

The event was a wonderful opportunity to come together and recognise everyone who helped bring the project to life — from iwi and local contractors to partners and advisors.

We were honoured to be welcomed with a pōwhiri led by kaumatua Rupene Mare QSM, kaumatua Joe Conrad ONZM and Trent Kaaka, and delighted by a heartfelt performance from the talented students of Pukenui School.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this achievement, whether travelling from across the field or from further afield. To round off the day, a small group planted a native tree at the solar farm; a symbol of growth, connection and our shared commitment to supporting the whenua and its people.

As Maree Meyerscough, COO and General Counsel, shared, this solar farm represents partnership, respect for the whenua and a shared commitment to a more sustainable future. Aquila Clean Energy is excited to keep supporting Aotearoa New Zealand’s renewable energy goals while being a good neighbour and creating local opportunities along the way.
